mEET OUR Preschool Staff

  • Co-Director and classroom Teacher, Kim Prevendar

I first learned about St. Olaf Lutheran Preschool in 2005. We transferred here when my first daughter was 4 and could not have been happier! After that, my 2 boys followed! My education background and degrees are in teaching special education (K-12 learning disabled, behavior challenged, and mild mentally impaired) as well as being director qualified to teach preschool. I have taught Sunday School, run a home day care business, worked in the church nursery, served on the Board of Education and planned and led Vacation Bible School programs. I started subbing in the preschool when my youngest child was a 4-year-old (fall of 2010) and took the position as head Pre-K teacher in January of 2013. I love, love, love my job! I enjoy this age and their desire to learn! Outside of school I enjoy nights out with my husband if I’m not at the rink for my 2 in travel hockey!

I have been helping out at St.Olaf Preschool for 7 years. I live in Oswego with my husband, Rob, our two teenage boys and our very spoiled Goldendoodle puppy. I’m a Northern Michigan University grad with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work. After ten years of working in the social work field I had my first son and became a stay at home mom. During that time I was actively involved in my boys’ school as a volunteer in the classroom and active in the Home and School Organization. I have also had the opportunity to substitute as a teacher assistant and K-Leap tutor at Oswego schools over the past several years. I miss the preschool years now that my boys are growing older, so I am always excited to be spending time in the classroom with the kids! It’s a magical age, and I truly enjoy watching them grow and learn. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a great program at St. Olaf!
